Highlights

  • Alia Bhatt broke many hearts yesterday when she tweeted, “I am engageddddd,” that too with an invitation to her engagement ceremony. But it was just a promotional stunt for her upcoming movie with Arjun Kapoor - 2 States. Today, the makers of the movie have released an interesting poster setting the mood for the full show, or rather the engagement ceremony.
  • Days after the release of the first poster, the second poster of the movie is out and is an indicator of things to come.
  • Based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel of the same name, 2 States is the love story that spans two ends of India and the cultural fallout that it brings with it. Krish, played by Arjun Kapoor, is a Punjabi munda who falls in love with the South Indian Ananya, played by Alia Bhatt. However, after paradise gained, its paradise lost when they plummet firmly back to earth and realize that their cultural differences may be a gap too wide for their parents to bridge. Aloo parantha with sambhar is an odd combination to say the least. But will the love birds make it palatable?
  • The newly-released poster shows the leads – Alia and Arjun - flanked by their respective parents, each side looking at the other with dismay and suspicion.
  • Amrita Singh and Ronit Roy play Arjun’s parents while the role of Alia’s mother is played by Revathy.
  • We totally like the poster, as it manages to paint the picture of North vs South divide that Ananya and Krish fall into without giving away much. Given the innovative engagement invite, Alia and Arjun’s fresh partnership (which may or may not have spilled over into real life) and the accolades Alia has been receiving for Highway, 2 States is already a movie we’re looking forward to.
  • The official trailer of the movie is expected to release on February 28 at noon. Directed by Abhishek Yarnan, 2 States is slated to hit the screens on April 18.
