Actor Salman Khan Likely to Record Statement Today in Arms Act Case

Salman has been summoned by a local court in Jodhpur

Jaipur: Actor Salman Khan has been summoned by a local court in Jodhpur to record his statements in the Arms Act case against him. This follows a recent decision by the court to allow the prosecution to present additional witnesses and evidence before it.

The case is an offshoot of the poaching cases against him - the actor had been accused of poaching three chinkaras and a black buck during his stay in Jodhpur, during the shooting of the film Hum Saath Saath Hain in 1998.

The licenses of his weapons were found to have expired, so the forest department also slapped a case under the Arms Act against him.

The verdict in the 16-year-old case was to have come on February 25.

But on the day the CJM was to pronounce the verdict, the prosecution moved a nine-year-old application, asking the court to consider additional witnesses and more documents.

The court deferred the verdict and the prosecution was allowed to present four more witnesses, a forensic report and additional evidence.

With more witnesses being brought in this case, Mr Khan is now required to record his statement again.
