Actor Anil Kapoor said that no one can play the role of Lakhan from his film Ram Lakhan better than him, and he even wished he got awards for his performance in the film.
When Mr Kapoor was asked about filmmaker Rohit Shetty's reported plans for a remake of the film, he quipped: "I have been hearing this for three and half years. Let him make the film now. Nobody can portray Lakhan better than me. Let's do a lottery on that."
Subhash Ghai's Ram Lakhan, which released in 1989, became a blockbuster. Rohit is reportedly planning to cast Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh as Ram (played by Jackie Shroff in original) and Lakhan respectively.
Anil Kapoor, who had previously said that Ranveer and his daughter Sonam should work together, said: "But I feel Ranveer Singh is the best choice for the film."
"That time I felt that I should have got awards for Eeshwar and Ram Lakhan as a popular film. Ram Lakhan was a big hit that time. I even feel that I did not get that many awards for Lamhe. There are also some films for which I didn't think I deserve an award but I got it. But I don't want to name those," said Mr Kapoor.
Eeshwar, which also released in 1989, was directed by K Vishwanath and Rajesh Malik while Lamhe, which released in 1991, was directed by Yash Chopra.
