Kuala Lumpur: Bollywood veteran Anupam Kher revealed that his now renowned acting school in India, The Actor Prepares, was a result of bankruptcy he faced eleven years back. While stressing on the importance of an acting institute, the Silver Linings Playbook star called upon the Malaysian government to build such a school in the country.

"I was failed in all other aspects of filmmaking and was bankrupt completely because my dreams were higher than realities. So, I started my acting school in a small room with twelve students, to prepare future actors and actresses.I will request the Malaysian government to also build an acting school here as it will help to produce a profession," Mr Kher said while addressing IIFA 2015's inaugural session Business Forum on June 4.

The 60-year-old actor, who has completed thirty one years in the Hindi film industry, said he is happy that Bollywood movies have made a mark in the international diaspora.

"Our cinema has evolved in last sixty years because we have made people happy through our films. The main purpose of our storyline is to spread happiness. Our cinema has an emotional connect," he said.

The Special 26 actor credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making Indian cinema popular. "India is a young country and entertainment was the last in the priority list of our previous government. The business of Indian cinema is no way looking back. I have full faith in Modiji and thanks to his many visits that people look at Indian cinema with respect," he said.

Mr Kher further condemned the usage of the word 'Bollywood'. "I hate to use Bollywood. We have coined a word similar to Hollywood. Our industry is Hindi film industry and it has the potential to take over any industry in the next ten years because of the infrastructure and corporates pitching in," he concluded.
