Are Aishwarya, Abhishek moving out of the Bachchan home?

Aishwarya and Abhishek got married in 2007.

Highlights

  • For six years now, since they married in 2007, Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan have been part of a traditional Indian joint family. As Mr and Mrs Bachchan Junior, they have lived with Abhishek's parents Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, celebrating Diwali, Karva Chauth and birthdays together. That might change soon, if rumour is to be believed.
  • In what would certainly be a big domestic upheaval, Aishwarya and Abhishek are reportedly planning to move out of Bachchan residence Jalsa and set up home with two-year-old daughter Aaradhya.
  • Both Aishwarya and Abhishek - currently on vacation with Ash's family - lived with their respective parents before they got married. Aishwarya was famously even questioned about living with her in-laws on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2009, and she had said then: "It's normal. It's absolutely natural to us. I lived with my parents before we got married so it's a natural thing."
  • In 2005, she had been more caustic with US TV host David Letterman replying to his question on whether it was common for adult Indians to live with their parents with: "It's common in India to live with your parents. It's also common in India that we don't need to take appointments with our parents to meet for dinner."
  • She and Abhishek may have to start taking appointments now, given how busy the elder Bachchans are. Watch:
