Clash with Dhanush's film wasn't intended: Shortcut Romeo director

Raanjhanaa featuring Dhanush hit the screens on June 21

Highlights

  • Southern director Susi Ganesh's debut Bollywood film Shortcut Romeo hit the screens alongside southern sensation, actor Dhanush's Hindi film debut Raanjhanaa on Friday. But the former says it was an unintended clash.
  • "I never intended to pitch against Dhanush because I like him and his father is very well-known to me. Basically, we were already on June 21 and they were on June 28. Suddenly, they shifted to June 21. It's not like we intended to fight against each other," the director said here on Thursday at a special screening of his film.
  • Shortcut Romeo is a remake of Ganesh's own Tamil film Thiruttu Payale. He admits the Hindi version is bigger and better than the Tamil original, and he hopes it is received well.
  • "It's a beautiful entertainment-based film with a strong message. It worked in a big way in south. In fact, it was like a dark horse. No one expected that kind of success at that time. Hopefully, I can attain the same success here in Bollywood," Susi said.
  • "I am the same director and creator who made that film, but I can say that this film is 10 times bigger and better than my Tamil version," he added.
  • Shortcut Romeo stars Neil Nitin Mukesh, Ameesha Patel and Puja Gupta.
