Emraan Hashmi in a still from Mr X
New Delhi:
Another weekend has come and gone without filling the Bollywood coffers. Actor Emraan Hashmi's
Mr X, the only mainstream film that was released last Friday, has collected just a little less than Rs 14 crores in its first three days.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted:
The Mahesh Bhatt-directed film's dismal earnings is the third weekend of poor collections in a row, after
Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! (Rs 14.06 cr) and
Ek Paheli Leela (Rs 15.85 cr).
Margarita, With a Straw, starring Kalki Koechlin, also released on Friday and has scraped past the Rs 2 crore mark.
No data at all is available for the National Award-winning
Court, last Friday's third film.
Bollywood will now look to upcoming films to end the current drought -
Piku (May 8, starring Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan),
Bombay Velvet (May 15, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma),
Tanu Weds Manu Returns (May 22, starring Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan) and
Dil Dhadakne Do (June 5, starring an ensemble cat including Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra).
Meanwhile, Mani Ratnam's new film
OK Kanmani (titled
OK Bangaram in Telugu) is burning up the American box office:
