Vidya Balan is 'Wanted: For Kidnapping And Murder,' according to a poster for her upcoming film Kahaani 2, which was revealed earlier today.
Kahaani 2, which is the sequel to the 2012 sleeper hit Kahaani directed by Sujoy Ghosh, sees Vidya as Durga Rani Singh, supposed criminal. The poster adds to the mystery revolving around her character's kahaani or story.
The makers of the film launched the poster in an almost blink-and-miss manner, in keeping with the theme of subterfuge that made the original film such a standout. Contrary to accepted practice in Bollywood, no announcements were made heralding the release of the film's teaser poster - designed to replicate the wanted posters commonly posted for missing criminals - before it popped up on Vidya's Twitter and Instagram accounts.
Kahaani 2reunites Vidya and Sujoy for a second time and this time, Arjun Rampal is an addition to the cast. Whether any of the other cast members of the first instalment, like Nawazuddin Siddiqui or Parambrata Chatterjee, will also be seen in the film is as yet unknown.
Vidya Balan was last seen playing the lead in 2015's Hamari Adhuri Kahani, opposite Emraan Hashmi. She also made a special appearance in this year's Te3n. With Kahaani 2, Vidya seems to be raring to show off her acting prowess once again.
Produced by Pen Films and Sujoy Ghosh, Kahaani 2 is now slated to hit theatres on December 2. It was earlier scheduled for a November 25 release but makers have pushed the date by a week, possibly to avoid a clash with the Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt film, Dear Zindagi.
