Abhishek and Ash couldn't be captured in a single frame
Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan spent her last weekend in Mumbai before she jets off to make a splash at the Cannes Film Festival (as she does) watching father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan's new film
Piku.
Aishwarya and husband Abhishek were photographed on their movie date on Saturday, with Abhishek's cousin Naina Bachchan and her new husband Kunal Kapoor.
They were taking Abhishek's Twitter advice, although no parents on either side were included in the outing:
Piku stars Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone and opened to glowing reviews last Friday.
Abhishek Bachchan also had a busy Sunday at Mumbai's Prithvi Theatre where actor Shashi Kapoor was receiving the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. The Kapoors and the Bachchans go back a long way - Amitabh Bachchan, who spoke at the ceremony, was a frequent collaborator of Shashi Kapoor, and Abhishek was once engaged to Mr Kapoor's grand-niece Karisma.
Abhishek was greeted by Shashi Kapoor's son Kunal and daughter Sanjana at Prithvi Theatre, and was later photographed touching the feet of the actor's sisters-in-law Neela Devi and Krishna Raj Kapoor.
Meanwhile, we assume Aishwarya is busy packing for Cannes. This is the actress' 14th year on the French Riviera and she will make a fashionably late entrance, walking the red carpet on May 17 and 20. She will also chair the amfAR gala with Abhishek on May 21.
The Cannes Film Festival begins on May 13, and will also see Sonam Kapoor and Katrina Kaif on the red carpet.
