Mumbai: Manisha Koirala took a break from movies after she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer but now she has bounced back and her fans have quite a bit to look forward to. The actress has started promotions for her upcoming film Dear Maya. After that, she will be seen in Dibakar Banerjee's short film in Bombay Talkies 2 and then the big one - Rajkumar Hirani's much-hyped Dutt biopic in which she plays Sanjay Dutt's mother Nargis Dutt. NDTV.com caught up with the actress and got her talking about one of her most challenging roles, in Mr Hirani's Sanjay Dutt biopic.

When asked about doing research for a popular character like Nargis Dutt, Manisha Koirala said, "Everything about Nargis Dutt is out there, there are people who knew her, who I talk to and there are books on her as well. Above all, I have a director like Raju Sir (Rajkumar Hirani) who has done all the research by himself. So I just have to follow what he says."

Apart from Raju Hirani's research, Manisha did get some more help from Nargis' daughter Priya Dutt, who shared some books and anecdotes about the legendary actress.

Initially, Manisha Koirala had some apprehensions about playing Sanjay Dutt's mother as she has acted opposite him in several films in the '90s - among them Yalgaar, Sanam and Kartoos - but clearly Mr Hirani somehow managed to convince her to take up the role.
