In Humshakals Trailer, Three of Saif, Riteish and Ram Add up to Nine

A still from the movie Humshakals

Highlights

  • The first trailer of Humshakals, released on April 30, works on a simple maths formula - multiply three actors by three equals nine times the fun. The three actors in this case are Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh and TV crossover Ram Kapoor. Each actor plays triple roles in the comedy, which also features Bipasha Basu, Tamannaah Bhatia and Esha Gupta.
  • Sample this - Riteish and Saif , dressed as lunatics and trapped in a mental asylum, make a fervent plea to doctor Ram Kapoor pledging their sanity. "Sir hamara yakeen kijiye. Hum pagal nahin hain, naa hi hamaara dimagg kharab hai (Sir please believe us. We are not mad, neither does our brain function abnormally)."
  • Scene 2: Riteish and Saif (Ashok and Kumar one and two respectively), dashing in formals, emerge from a chopper in London.
  • Scene 3: Riteish and Saif (Ashok and Kumar three and four), the "real" madmen, announce that they're raving mad.
  • Cut to the lunatics scene again and Riteish and Saif (Ashok and Kumar five and six) seem more believable when they convince their doctor (Ram Kapoor) that all three of them have twins who in turn also have twins. But he's not convinced and orders them locked up.
  • In a twist in the tale, the doctor turns out to be their maternal uncle - which pair's we don't know yet - who also has identical twins.
  • Things get even more confusing after we see Riteish and Saif clutching each other's collars. One says he is Ashok, the other says he is Kumar, but neither know which one. There's also some cross-dressing on the beach, a trip to London and a misunderstanding with butter.
