Mumbai:
Actors John Abraham and Varun Dhawan said that their new film
Dishoom is not similar to the
Dhoom series.
At the trailer launch of the film, when John and Varun were asked about the similarities with
Dhoom and if
Dishoom can also be made into a successful franchise, Varun said: "This is nothing like
Dhoom but because John was in the first
Dhoom film, I think he should answer why it is different."
"When I heard the script of
Dishoom, the first thing that I told Sajid Nadiadwala and Rohit Dhawan was that
Dishoom will go up to
Dishoom 8 because this is a very young, action adventure franchise. Kabir and Junaid (their characters) will find new problems, new issues and move to different places. It's going to be fun. It's a great film," said John.
Dhoom, which released in 2004, cast John Abraham as the antagonist opposite Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra. The subsequent
Dhoom films cast Hrithik Roshan and Aamir Khan respectively.
John's name in the Rohit Dhawan-directed film is Kabir as it was in
Dhoom.
"Except the name, it's a different template. It's a different format. It's very different and I really love this space," said John.
"The experience was absolutely fantastic. We had a lot of fun, great action and the action sequences in the film are very large. It's a really huge scale film. It's very special and it comes from the heart. We're not forcing the line," said John.
John also spoke about his relationship with the cast and crew of the film.
"All of us coming together is fantastic. It's my second film with Sajid. I can confidently say that I'm really close to him. Rohit is like my younger brother. With Varun, what you can see on screen, we share the same bond off screen. Our chemistry is absolutely fantastic," said John.
Dishoom also casts Jacqueline Fernandez and Akshaye Khanna.
"Jacky (Jacqueline Fernandez) is a sweetheart. I've been a huge fan of Akshaye Khanna. So the fact that he is in this film means so much to me personally," said John.
John was last seen in
Rocky Handsome.
