Karan Johar Responds to Same Sex Marriage Joke on Twitter. #LoveWins, Trolls Lose

New Delhi: The American Supreme Court's historic ruling last Friday making same-sex marriage legal in all 50 states spawned a weekend of debate on Twitter. Several users have tweeted in support of the judgement, others have taken the opposing view. The trolls have directed vitriol at celebrities like Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar, whose sexuality has been a continuing topic of interest and speculation ever since he made his name directing movies like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.

Karan Johar, who obliquely addressed his sexuality in the controversial AIB Roast, retorted to a troll:

On the comments thread, the user was called out by several others and advised to "get a life."

Meanwhile, the US Supreme Court's verdict was the subject of a wave of tweets both for and against. The handful of Indian celebs tweeting included director Onir, who noted that homosexuality is still ciminalised in India, and Bigg Boss alumnus Sushant Divgikar, both openly gay.
