Actress Mahima Chaudhary is back on the silver screen in a biopic on actress-gangster Archana Sharma. Filmmaker Shashi Ranjan is already half way through his biopic on Sharma, which has Mahima Choudhary in the lead.
"We are working on a biopic on Archana Sharma. She was a small time actress who had worked in a couple of Dev Anand films. It is a biopic on a small town girl who arrives in Mumbai to become an actress and later takes to crime and turns into a gangster," Ranjan told reporters.
The yet to be titled film is an adaptation of S S Hussain Zaidi's book 'Mafia Queens of Mumbai'.
"We felt Mahima was perfect for the film. We have worked on her physical appearances. She had to gain eight to ten kgs as she has to look plump in some portions of the film," Ranjan said.
The film also stars Rahul Dev, who reportedly plays the role of gangster Babloo Srivastava. The other characters in the film include Sudhanshu Pandey and Govind Namdev.
Ranjan feels it is a challenge to make a biopic and he is leaving no stone unturned for the film.
Thirty percent of the film has been shot in Mumbai, Dubai and Nepal. The second schedule will begin from September.
Ranjan is directing as well producing the film, which he intends to release next year.
