Ranbir Kapoor: Say things about me but don't drag my parents into everything

Ranbir Kapoor: Say things about me but don't drag my parents into everything

Ranbir says a public figure cannot escape scrutiny

Highlights

  • Actor superstar - a term, which initially made the Kapoor lad shy, is now something he wears proudly. If there is one thing that he, Ranbir Kapoor, is unapologetically shameless about is "my talent". "I am arrogant when it comes to my talent, that's the only thing I wear proudly," he says.
  • As the jury awaits his new over the top "mass" film Besharam, the actor says doing this movie will help him reach out to a wider audience than the films he did in the past. But then Ranbir does have a fan following which very few can boast of so early in their careers. The actor says he is glad, but an actor for him is one who tries out new roles. The higher the risk factor the more he thrives on it.
  • Essentially a shy guy, getting into his character Bubbly's shoes was tough but he loved every moment of being Besharam which he clarifies is an attitude not someone who is an exhibitionist. "But sharing screen space with my parents has been the most memorable experience," he says.
  • With his personal life under scrutiny, Ranbir says, "It's part of the territory. I am a public figure and also having grown up under the lens, am aware that people are interested in knowing about what's happening in their favourite star's life and today everyone is a paparazzo with the smart phone, you can click a picture anywhere and everyone is a reporter thanks to social networking sites. A public figure cannot escape it, and will have to deal with it be it something written, clicked or said."
  • But he doesn't want people to sit in judgement about his personal life.
  • "Say things about me as an actor but please do not pass theories on my personal life and drag my parents into everything. Write about me. As long as you get my spelling right, you can write anything but leave my mom and dad alone."
  • So what does he make of the national obsession with his wedding? Should we organise a swayamavar?
  • Laughing, he says "No, I will find the one I want to marry. But I am not getting married just yet. I believe in the institution of marriage, but as of now it's not on the agenda and that's the reason am saying nothing about my personal life and when I do I will make an announcement. I would want to travel, be with my wife and there would be no reason to hide her and deal with picture leaks."
  • He will start working on Jagga Jasoos from next month with Katrina Kaif, but as of now with Besharam rolling into theatres, the Rockstar is all set to go on a holiday, although he didn't specify with whom. The actor is also planning to indulge his loved ones with gifts.
  • Well, all we can say is this Rockstar wears his attitude rather easily.
