Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra with their trophies at the Screen Awards
New Delhi: Bollywood thriller film Haider, which is an adaptation of Shakespeare's tragedy Hamlet, emerged as the big winner at the Life OK Screen Awards yesterday. The film, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, fetched Shahid Kapoor the Best Actor award along with Best Jodi with Tabu, who also won the award for Best Supporting Actress. The film also won the Production Design award.
The runner-up was actor-filmmaker Rajat Kapoor's Ankhon Dekhi and National Film Award winning movie Filmistaan with three awards each, followed by actress Kangana Ranaut's Queen and Shah Rukh Khan's Happy New Year with two awards each. Actress Priyanka Chopra took home the trophy for Best Actress for her power packed performance in Mary Kom, while actress Deepika Padukone won the award for Best Actress in the Popular Choice category.
Other top winners include actress Rani Mukerji's Mardaani and Alia Bhatt's Highway.
Veteran actress Hema Malini was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Past recipients include Amitabh Bachchan, late director Yash Chopra, and Asha Bhosle.
In the Marathi awards section, actor-filmmaker Ajay Devgn and his wife actress Kajol's
Vitti Dandu, dominated the night.
