Highlights

  • Shah Rukh Khan is feeling just fine, thank you very much for asking. He’s feeling fine because now he’s able to do what he feels like doing. “That is the ultimate goal in life. And I think I’m 70-80% there,” SRK told NDTV at an event for Tag Heuer watches of which he is the brand ambassador.
  • In fact, he feeling better than fine. He’s feeling “sublime.”
  • Could this have anything to do with the fact that he had a record-breaking film this year in Chennai Express? SRK said, “I believe every year is mine. Every year is every individual’s, how they see it.
  • Sometimes failure also is seen as your year to learn from, sometimes success means the learning has paid off and you have utilized it properly. 2013 has been wonderful as a producer. It’s been fantastic to have worked with someone as wonderful as Rohit Shetty and Deepika Padukone and make a film like Chennai Express which I think overall is an amazingly commercial happy film. I’m very happy for Red Chillies and for myself of course as an actor.”
  • With Chennai Express’ blockbuster earnings under his belt, perhaps SRK’s dream now is a Rs 10,000 cr film. “If I have to dream in my own bed then sky is not the limit. Right now we are limited by numbers. Though when I’m sleeping these are not the figures I’m thinking about to be really honest,” said SRK, adding however that he would like to fulfill the Rs 10,000 cr dream.
  • Could his ‘sublime’ mood have anything to do with his new film Happy New Year? It could, said SRK: “In Happy New Year you have Deepika Padukone, Farah Khan, Abhishek Bachchan – a set of people on whose backs I can ride on. It’s nice to ride on the backs of women who are fantastic, work hard, beautiful, conscientious. I’ve always been someone who’s taken the credit for my films while the girls have done the hard work. This one’s got two girls doing the hard work.”
  • And while the girls are working, what have the boys been doing? “Playing football and having a great time,” said SRK.
  • Shah Rukh, somewhat of a mentor to Deepika Padukone, also said he’s proud of her success, adding that “If you can’t feel happy for the people that you are associated with, actors or actresses, who are doing well with or without you, it is a sad and boring life.”
  • A sentiment we’d expect from the Baadshah of Bollywood. But there is one person who even the King bows to – Chennai Express director Rohit Shetty. “In his world of cinema you don’t question him, you just follow instructions. So I follow Rohit’s instructions,” said SRK.
  • Time and tide proverbially wait for no man. But watch-man SRK declared, “Time starts when I reach a place. Time is a verb you need to add an adjective to it – good time, bad time, sad time, happy time, real time, black time, white time. So I decide whenever I go somewhere I should turn it into a happy time. That time is mine so I don’t get controlled by time.”
  • And what of the youngest Khan, AbRam? We hear he has dimples like his dad. His proud father said, “Either he’s Shah Rukh or Sharmila Tagore, one of the two. We have the best dimples in the world. Or Preity Zinta. Dimples or no dimples, every child is beautiful but I’m happy that AbRam is healthy.”
  • That’s great to hear.
