Did you know that your social media presence is similar to that of your favourite celebrity? While some emulate their favourite fashionistas, others exhibit patterns similar to Bollywood's Khans, or filmdom's megastar Amitabh Bachchan.
Your social media behaviour reveals more about you than you think. "Social media is another medium of interpersonal psycho-social dynamics. People choose to express themselves differently and the choice of the kind of self that one wishes to emphasise tells a lot about individual personality," says Dr Jyoti Kapoor, a leading Gurgaon based psychiatrist. "Societal trends have always affected individuals and vice versa. An Individual takes on multiple social identities based on their environment."
While Twitter, Facebook and Instagram are popular platforms on which Bollywood thrives, they also make the most of Vine (the video sharing site), or personal blogs, among others.

Sonam KapoorIf Vogue is your Bible and you are known for putting your stylish foot forward, you are none other than fashion's favourite child Sonam Kapoor. You post pictures of your latest purchases, describing them in loving detail to evoke everyone's envy (disguised in the likes/retweets). PS: We know you glut on the comments admiring your choices.
Dr Jyoti Kapoor says that personality is a function of inherited characteristics. "An individual's interaction is based on the socio-cultural influence. For some these representations need to be accentuated with the physical characteristics."
Sonakshi Sinha
A pout selfie, an attitude selfie, a group selfie, a work selfie, a rest from work selfie, a selfie while taking selfie! You are simply fabulous and clickable. You are the 'Queen of Selfies' - you are Sonakshi Sinha! The actress shares with her fans all her faces and so do you.
On selfie lovers, Dr Jyoti Kapoor says, "Individuals who want acknowledgement for their physical characteristics that they are proud of are keen on focussing on and selfies. They derive gratification through the compliments they receive." Reading more into the selfie business she says, "These may be individuals who have struggled with self-image/body image issues at some point in their lives (at younger age) and wish to reinstate their self-percept of being beautiful and belong to the group of people who are known as beautiful."
Shah Rukh Khan
Much like Bollywood's King Khan, you are known for the love you have for your family. Shah Rukh Khan's frequent PDA (especially for his kids) on social media is one of the many things that make him adorable. The actor shares his concern, love and fun moments with his kids and you like to do that too. You will often find yourself posting a funny thing your kid did or maybe a nostalgic moment about family.
Dr Jyoti Kapoor says, "Emphasis on activities associated with children and family indicate perception or importance of self as a parent rather than an individual."
Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh
These names are now almost inseparable. Packed with dramatic punch lines and with a flair for fun, you and your friend are much like social media babas Ranveer and Arjun. Joined at the hip, you and your friend take a dig at each other for the entertainment of others and often team up to for a better chance at fun.
While some choose to share minimal attributes of their life, some 'overdo' their social media bonding. Dr Jyoti Kapoor says, "Some literally lay themselves out like an open book. For them it's a form of generating intimacy with a larger group of people. For them world becomes their family and their 'likes' and 'dislikes', motivate them."
Aamir Khan
From the flamboyant to the hermit, you are a social media paradox. "Did you see that he/she posted again" - is probably what others say about you. Much like Aamir Khan, you are the social media recluse, who has a poignant remark once in a while; else you stay clear from the social media 'drama'.
Salman Khan
He is the most stylish Khan of Bollywood and you are 'that' stylish person connected to everyone. You make a rare appearance loaded with punkish attitude and are lauded for the same.
For those who make limited but splashy appearances on social media, Dr Jyoti Kapoor says, "The extent of expression of self on social media depends on both personal and cultural perceptions. Those who wish to project themselves as more private individuals would not like to display affection in market place and so nor do the same online. These individuals wish to be identified as less self-obsessed and more intellectual or satisfied in their private life."
Amitabh Bachchan
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan's shoes are pretty big to fit in and we mean that literally. Big B is probably one of the most tech savvy celebs in Bollywood with daily updates on all his social media platforms including a blog. Are you the person on Facebook who has a lot to say and is always worth hearing from? Are your status updates the most awaited and most commented among your friend list? Then your personality mimics that of Big B.
Talking about the intellectuals, Dr Jyoti Kapoor says, "For some social representations need to accentuate their responsible self or their intellectual self-based on their individual assumption of who they are or who they should be."
Priyanka Chopra
If social media can track your work records almost to the 'T', then you are busy bee Priyanka Chopra. Trailer launch, song launch, charity events, album launch - actress Priyanka Chopra keeps her fans up to date with her career. You may not be a celeb but you are as busy as one and you let everyone know that.
For a workaholics soul, Dr Jyoti Kapoor says, "The significant component of this individuals' self-perception is related to work. This individual gives more importance to work and may consider it a superior goal in life than other pursuits like relationships or leisure."
Abhishek Bachchan
Football, cricket, kabaddi, and all other sports are thoroughly discussed on your wall? Then you are Mr Sporty Abhishek Bachchan. Similar to Junior B, you enjoy debating about every sport with vigour and enthusiasm.
"For these individuals, loyalties to teams matter and hence they derive their sense of belonging by belonging to a larger group," opines Dr Jyoti Kapoor.
Uday Chopra

"Being funny increases social acceptability," says Dr Jyoti Kapoor, adding, "There is also an intellectual dimension to being funny." She also says, "These people project a carefree approach and wish to be seen as people who do not get affected by other people's behaviour or trends in general."
