Sonam Kapoor: I need to maintain a diplomatic silence

Sonam said she would rather vote than fly off to Tampa Bay for the IIFA Awards

Highlights

  • "I would rather vote than fly off to Tampa," said Sonam Kapoor when asked why, unlike some of her colleagues, she preferred staying back in Mumbai to exercise her right to vote. Father Anil Kapoor will be kicking off IIFA weekend in Florida, whilst Sonam took some time off for a good cause. (Also read: Sonam Kapoor likes art with a heart)
  • The actress inaugurated artist Rouble Nagi's exhibition, endorsing a campaign to educate underprivileged children. "I insist that education is what is required and am all for giving my support to it," Sonam told NDTV.
  • The actress, who plays a doctor in Khoobsurat, said her character Milli is absolutely chilled unlike her and when it came to her other movie, Dolly Ki Doli, Sonam revealed it is similar to Runaway Bride, except Dolly is a fun-loving Punjabi girl who doesn't love any of the men. Though the actress was not allowed to speak on her next film with Salman Khan - Sooraj Barjatya's Prem Ratan Dhan Payo - she revealed that she had always wanted to do a Sooraj Barjatya film and was most excited about that.
  • But the issue that had been hounding the lissome actress had been her 'foot in the mouth moment' on Koffee with Karan, when she minced no words in giving her take on actress Deepika Padukone's fashion sense to also calling her one-time Koffee-mate a good girl gone bad. Now, with a 'selfie song' which made fun of the actress' couch moment - which she also sportingly tweeted - Sonam said, "I need to be careful and diplomatic and not say everything that comes to mind, I need to maintain a diplomatic silence."
  • So she may have bypassed Florida, but there's a trip to the French Riviera this May as she takes off for the Cannes film festival. So what would be her look? "It's a surprise," said Sonam. Well, we sure are looking forward to her fashion statement.
