Veteran actress Sridevi has a strong fan base in the South. Ahead of the release of her new film Mom, distributors from the southern regions of India, requested to have the film dubbed and released in southern languages. Filmmaker Boney Kapoor, Sridevi's husband, who is producing the movie, confirmed that MOM will be dubbed in three languages other than Hindi along with releasing Telugu, Telugu and Malayalam versions of the film. "Ever since the teaser of the film released, online distributors have been clamouring for it and sent several requests to the makers asking for the film to be dubbed in south languages. Owing to this, the film will also be dubbed and released in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam apart from Hindi," IANS quoted Boney Kapoor as saying.
Mr Kapoor added that there's a huge demand for Sridevi's movies in the southern film industry and that cine-goers are particularly looking forward to MOM. "One of India's biggest superstars of all time, Sridevi has completed over 50 years in the film industry and has a massive fan base. Her fans are eagerly anticipating her films and the distributors especially down south too have been supporting her films," IANS reported the filmmaker as saying.
July 7 has been booked as the release date of MOM, which is also reportedly the same date when Sridevi's debut film Kandhan Karunai hit screens. For the uninitiated, Sridevi was only four when she co-starred with Tamil star Sivaji Ganesan in the 1967 film.
MOM also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Akshaye Khanna in significant roles with Sridevi as the protagonist, who appears resolute to seek revenge for an unfortunate incident concerning her daughter.
Directed by Ravi Udyawar, MOM also casts Abhimanyu Singh and Pakistani actor Adnan Siddiqui in key roles.
