Today's Big Release: Kapoor And Sons

New Delhi: It's Hollywood vs Bollywood at the box office with a string of films for release. But the one that seems to be generating the most interest is the laugh riot Kapoor And Sons.

Directed by Shakun Batra and produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, Kapoor And Sons features Rishi Kapoor, Fawad Khan, Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt in key roles. Sidharth and Fawad reportedly play estranged brothers who are forced to live under the same roof by their 90-year-old cranky grandfather Rishi Kapoor. Alia plays their love interest. Actors Ratna Pathak Shah and Rajat Kapoor play the parents in the dysfunctional family.

Also releasing today is Oscar-winning South African director Gavin Hood's thriller The Eye in The Sky which revolves around the controversial subject of collateral damage during warfare. Actress Helen Mirren plays Col Katherine Powell, a tough British military officer who heads a drone operation to snuff out terrorists on the run in Kenya. Her mission becomes complicated after a girl enters the kill zone triggering an international dispute over the implications of modern warfare.

Stephen Frears's film on disgraced Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong is also out today with Ben Foster playing the lead role.

South cinema has the Malayalam action film Darvinte Parinamam featuring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Chemban Vinod Jose to offer. Directed by Jijo Antony, the film is about how a couple's life changes drastically after their encounter with a local goon. Pugazh, the Manimaran-directed Tamil action thriller starring Jai, Surabhi and Karunas also opens today.

Also up for release are the Hollywood heist drama Triple 9, the animated comic adventure Norm of the North and the biographical sports drama Race about the life of Olympic-winning African American athlete Jesse Owens.
