Today's big releases: Ragini MMS 2, Gang of Ghosts, Lakshmi

Ragini MMS 2, Gang of Ghosts and Lakshmi are all set to release this weekend.

Highlights

  • Indian- American actress Sunny Leone takes to screens again with the sequel to the horror hit Ragini MMS (2011). The film follows the adventures of a film crew who plan to shoot the incidents of the first film for their project. Sunny plays a famous actress who gets possessed. The film’s music is already a big hit and the steamy scenes are definitely crowd pullers.
  • Also in the fray is Gang of Ghosts starring Mahie Gill and Sharman Joshi in the lead roles. The film, directed by Satish Kaushik, is a comedy adventure with the likes of Chunky Pandey and Rajpal Yadav in the lead roles. Though the film was promoted heavily, the music and the trailers have not created much buzz.
  • A surprise hit may be Nagesh Kukunoor’s Lakshmi which stars Monali Thakur, Satish Kaushik, Shefali Shetty and Ram Kapoor in the lead roles. The film revolves around issues like child prostitution and human trafficking and has been creating a buzz around festival circuits. If it can translate critical acclaim into box-office success, remains to be seen.
  • On Hollywood’s platter, two films Need For Speed and Muppets Most Wanted hit the screens today. While Need For Speed may appeal to speedsters and fans of race flicks, Muppets may only find kids among the audience.
