The wait is over as Shahid Kapoor's Udta Punjab finally hits the screens today. After being embroiled in row with Central Board of Film Certification (The board asked for 89 cuts and omission of word Punjab in the title) the producers are content that the Bombay High Court cleared the film with just one cut and an A certificate.
Co-produced by Phantom Films and Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures, Udta Punjab stars Shahid as a drug addicted rockstar and Alia as a Bihari migrant. The movie deals with the issue of drug abuse in Punjab and features Kareena Kapoor as a doctor and Diljit Dosanjh as a cop.
Nagesh Kukunoor's Dhanak is also releasing this week. The film, which has won awards in international film festivals, is a heartwarming tale of brother-sister bond.
Hollywood brings three interesting films from different genres.
Now You See Me 2 is a thriller which boasts of an impressive star cast. The film has Daniel Radcliffe, Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman. It is a sequel to 2013 film of the same name.
Finding Dory is the sequel to 2003 hit animated film Finding Nemo. The film stars Ellen DeGeneres as Dory and Albert Brooks as Nemo's Father.
Third in the line is Dwayne Johnson's Central Intelligence. It is an action comedy which also stars Kevin Hart.
