Mumbai: Actor Varun Sharma said that he felt numb when Rohit Shetty offered Dilwale to him.

"I felt numb when I got to know that I will be doing Dilwale. I called my mother and told her and we were silent for two minutes. We both knew that this was a big an opportunity. I understood that she was overwhelmed too," Varun told PTI.

Varun made his debut in Bollywood with 2013's Fukrey. Dilwale features Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon.

"I wanted to know Shah Rukh and also wanted to know how he works, what his process of working is and how he is as a person. There are millions like me who dream about working with him some day. His film Baazigar really inspired me. I used to recite all the dialogues and lines as a child and he is the reason why I am doing films," said Varun.(Also Read: Why Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol 'Inspire' Varun Sharma)

"I do not know how my career will progress after Dilwale. I had no idea about how my life would change after Fukrey. The journey so far has been very beautiful. If I have done well in Dilwale, and if people like my work, then that will make me very happy," added Varun.

Dilwale is scheduled to release on December 18.
