Why Richa Chadha didn't celebrate the new year

Born and brought up in Delhi, Richa seems to share the concern about the growing violence against women in the city.

Highlights

  • Following the horrible gangrape that recently took place in the national capital and the victim later succumbing to her injuries, prominent folks from B-Town came forward to express their anguish and solidarity. Turns out Richa Chadha too wanted to contribute her bit to the prevalent national mood. As a result, she didn't celebrate January 1, which she otherwise does by attending year-ending parties.
  • Born and brought up in Delhi, Richa seems to share the concern about the growing violence against women in the city. However, she took a day off yesterday. "I wasn't working but I cancelled all celebration plans right after the young girl passed away in Singapore. I'm in no mood to welcome 2013 with a loud bang, especially when a family is basically destroyed and the country is justifiably angry," says the 28-year-old who is currently based in Mumbai.
  • Interestingly, the Gangs of Wasseypur actress didn't even celebrate her birthday last month as she was shooting for her upcoming film. "Last year was very busy for me. In fact, on my birthday, I did an 18 hour-shift but made sure I cut a cake with the colleagues and crew on sets," signs off Richa who is currently working for three projects including Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next Ram Leela.
