- In a condolence message to her daughter, Kiran Sehgal, Mr Mukherjee said Ms Sehgal was a veteran actress, theatre artist and TV personality who delighted countless Bollywood and Hollywood film watchers by her “memorable acting” and “unabated energy”.
- “She will always be remembered for her films like Bhaji On The Beach, Cheeni Kum, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ and Saawariya, among others. Her singular contribution to Indian theatre and cinema was recognized through a number of awards, including the Padma Vibhushan, the Padma Bhushan and the Padma Shri,” he said.
- Conveying heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family and Sehgal’s countless fans and friends, Mr Mukherjee said: “I pray to the Almighty to give you and your family the strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss”.
