Los Angeles: Ben Affleck, who is the latest actor to play Batman, sought advice on the role from actors George Clooney and Christian Bale.

In an interview with his Batman v Superman co-star Henry Cavill, Mr Affleck told Good Morning America's Jesse Palmer that Mr Clooney and Mr Bale, who also played the caped crusader in the past, had offered their guidance, reported people.com.

"I talked to Clooney and he gave me some advice which is not repeatable," Mr Affleck joked.

"And I talked to Christian, who just told me to make sure I got a zipper in the suit, which was valuable, practice advice as it turned out," he added.

Mr Clooney starred in Batman & Robin (1997), and Mr Bale portrayed Batman in Christopher Nolan's acclaimed Dark Knight Trilogy - Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008), and The Dark Knight Rises (2012).

The Argo star also dished on the year-long workout regimen he undertook to get into shape, which he admits was spurred on by a little healthy competition with the Man of Steel actor. (Also Read: Trailer: Man of Steel, Huh? Superman Meets Batman's Fist. Then, This)

"I saw the first movie that he was in (Man of Steel) and I was kind of like, 'Wow, well I don't know if I'm going to be able to be quite in that good of shape,'" he joked.
