Jeremy Renner, whose Aaron Cross replaced Matt Damon's Bourne as the lead character in the preceding film, reprises his role as does Julia Stiles as Nicky Parsons. Additions to the cast include Vincent Cassel as the villain, Tommy Lee Jones and Alice Vikander.
The Bourne series are inspired from the character of Jason Bourne, a CIA assassin suffering from extreme memory loss, created by author Robert Ludlum. Matt Damon has featured in three installments of the series - The Bourne Identity (2002), The Bourne Supremacy (2004) and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007).
The film, directed by Paul Greengrass, will hit theatres on July 29, 2016.
