The Golden Globes will be held in Los Angeles' Beverly Hilton Hotel on January 10, 2016. British comedian Ricky Gervais will host for the fourth time. Jamie Foxx's daughter Corinne has been chosen as this year's Miss Golden Globe, a position always filled by the daughter of an actor

The nominations for the Golden Globes are out and there were few surprises on the list. Many of the names have already generated reams of awards talk - in film, Leonardo DiCaprio for his work in The Revenant, Matt Damon for The Martian, Michael Fassbender and Kate Winslet for Steve Jobs, Eddie Redmayne and Alicia Vikander for The Danish Girl, Bryan Cranston and Helen Mirren for Trumbo, Christian Bale and Steve Carrell for The Big Short, Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara for Carol, Saoirse Ronan for Brooklyn, Jennifer Lawrence for Joy; in TV, Julia Louis-Dreyfus for Veep, Gina Rodriguez for Jane The Virgin, Jeffrey Tambor for Transparent, Orange Is The New Black's Uzo Aduba, Downton Abbey's Joanne Froggatt.
Alicia Vikander, who starred in five movies in 2015, scored two nods - Best Actress - Drama for The Danish Girl and Best Supporting Actress for Ex Machina.
Notable snubs went to Michael Keaton for Spotlight, which is up for Best Drama Film. The surprises, such as they were, included pop star Lady Gaga, nominated for her role in American Horror Story: Hotel. There was also a lack of Meryl Streep on the list, remarkable in its omission because the 66-year-old actress has dominated nominations for the last few years and it appears that she only has to be in a film to be included among the nominees. This year, she was not, despite getting good reviews for playing an ageing rock star in Ricki And The Flash.
Nominations for the Globes, considered the Academy Awards' more fun version, Much of the attention went not to the announcements themselves - made by actors America Ferrera, Chloe Grace Moretz, Angela Bassett and Dennis Quaid - but to the Globes' official Twitter account misidentifying America as Gina Rodriguez in multiple tweets, like this one.
