Oscars 2016: He Named Me Malala, Amy in Documentary Shortlist

Los Angeles: Davis Guggenheim's He Named Me Malala and Asif Kapadia's Amy have featured as frontrunners in the shortlist for the Best Documentary Award at the Academy Awards 2016.(Also Read: He Named Me Malala: A Taliban Target and Nobel Laureate)

Alex Gibney's film Going Clear and Michael Moore's Where to Invade Next have also made it to the top 15 list.

Mexican-border vigilante study Cartel Land, campus-rape investigation The Hunting Ground and the crime documentary 3 1/2 Minutes, Ten Bullets are also on the list.

Joshua Oppenheimer, who was nominated for The Act of Killing in 2013, is back in the race with The Look of Silence.

The shortlisted films were narrowed down from 124 eligible entries after a vote by the Ampas documentary branch.

Another vote will trim the list to the final five nominations and the winner will be announced at the Oscars ceremony on February 28.
