New Delhi: The Avengers are re-assembling today to save the world from a new enemy, this time a malevolent artificial intelligence bent on destruction.

In Avengers: Age of Ultron, the sequel to the 2012 blockbuster, the action shifts away from New York. All the familiar faces return to fight Ultron - Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hulk, Hawkeye, Nick Fury and Maria Hill. Additions to the line-up include Wanda and Pietro Maximoff, also known as Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Robert Downey Jr returns as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill. Paul Bettany both reprises his role of J.A.R.V.I.S. as well as voices The Vision. Joining the cast are James Spader as Ultron, Aaron Johnson as Quicksilver and Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch. Several characters from the Captain America and Thor movies also crossover, including Anthony Mackie as Falcon and Idris Elba as Heimdall.

Directed by Joss Whedon, the film is releasing in India and several other countries a week before it does in the USA.

Bollywood is keeping a safe distance from the superheroes, except for the political satire Jai Ho Democracy which stars Om Puri, Annu Kapoor, Satish Kaushik, Adil Hussain and Seema Biswas in key roles. Directed by Ranjit Kapoor (who wrote the dialogues for the 1983 cult film Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro), the film comically highlights the problems plaguing Indian politics and its social structure.
