The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is the third film in the series based on CS Lewis? fantasy novels.

In this installment, the two youngest children, Edmund, played by Skander Keynes and Lucy played by Georgie Henley, are transported back to Narnia along with their obnoxious cousin Eustace, played by Will Poulter.

The three embark on an adventure on the high seas, which of course includes enchanted waters, the nefarious Dark Island and a gigantic crustacean creature that looks like the Kraken?s first cousin.

Some of this is fun ? I enjoyed the nasty Eustace who of course eventually discovers his noble inner self ? but most of it feels like a retread of all the adventure fantasy films you?ve seen before, with the requisite moral science lessons.

So we have dialogue like: To defeat the darkness out there, you must defeat the darkness within yourself. Dawn Treader is far from an exhilarating adventure but if you have young children, there really isn?t much else in the theaters this week. Check it out.
