Singer Robin Thicke has defended his MTV VMA performance with pop star Miley Cyrus, saying it was done to excite and provoke the audience.
Cyrus, 20, gave a controversial performance at the recently concluded awards in which she twerked and waged her tongue as she danced with Thicke, 36, on Blurred Lines, reported MTV online.
"We knew what we were getting ourselves into. We're entertainers, and the VMAs is the perfect place for a little shock and awe," Thicke said.
"I mean, the whole point was to excite and provoke and entertain," he added.
Cyrus earlier defended her performance saying that the pair knew they were making history with it.
