Always set right on the fashion scale, Cate Blanchett began her red carpet sojourn at the Oscars with a John Galliano in the year 1999. She surely upped the temperature by the backless ensemble.

She continued the fashion extravaganza in the year 2000. She chose a black Jean-Paul Gaultier and looked as glamorous as ever.

In 2005, the pulled-back-hair look gave way to let-loose curls and darker shades to yellow. The transition was well in place as the fashion police quite liked the Valentino.

Cate zeroed onto a copper brown Armani Prive for the year 2007, showing off her curves.

This was replaced by Dries van Noten in 2008. She spelled style in the purple outfit.

Year 2011 brought about a less glamorous but perfectly elegant Givenchy Haute Couture. Cate looked lovely in pink.

Sandra Bullock's screen presence demands attention and so does her fashion off it. She has been making head turn at the Oscar galas since the year 1996.
In 2006, she looked beautiful in a royal blue Angel Sanchez.

A year later, in 2010, she was a show stopper in metallic Manchesa.

She looked red hot at the red carpet in the year 2011 in a red Vera Wang.

A change in style made her stand out in a black and white Manchesa in 2012.

Last year, Sandra made a style statement in a sheer brown black Elie Saab.

Amy Adams has literally evolved into the style diva that she is now. She started off with a Carolina Herrera in 2006.

The pulled back hair gave way to beautiful curls and a bolder green Proenza Schouler in 2008.

Amy was red hot in red in 2009 in Carolina Herrera. The neckpiece made quite a statement, we must say.

A royal blue sequined L'Wren Scott was Amy's choice in 2011.

Amy's most brilliant choice has been in the last year where the off white not only accentuated her beauty but the style of the Oscar de la Renta enhanced her charisma and charm.

Meryl Streep, known for giving power packed performances, is a veteran in the fashion arena as well.
Be it the black lace dress back in 1978 or the white ensemble teamed with a jacket in 1979, she has always mesmerized the people with fashion choices. In the year 1983, Meryl had won an Oscar for Sophie's Choice and to complete the ‘gold' look, she took to a gold-embellished dress. And she certainly looked like a million bucks.

While Meryl showed shades of grey in 1999, she was all white in 2010.

Another veteran Judi Dench has never got it wrong on the fashion scale. She took to Indian-origin designers Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla for a peach ensemble in 1999.

In 2001, she went for a red-black Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla dress.

Judi Dench spelled style in a black Escada gown with sheer sleeves.

Judi wore a peppermint eastern inspired gown in 2006.

For a newbie the fashion choices of Jennifer Lawrence have been quite impressive. She took to a red Calvin Klein in 2011 and looked stylish.

An off white Dior Couture accentuated her looks last year.

Pretty woman Julia Roberts is effortlessly ‘pretty' and suave when it comes to the red carpet of the Oscars. She mesmerized all with a backless Taupe dress in the year 1990.

The following year wasn't that good fashion-wise as the blue turtleneck dress didn't do any good to the pretty actress.

Julia Roberts wore a vintage Valentino gown to the awards in 2001. Everything from the dress to her hair gave her the look of an Old Hollywood Glamour movie star. She even won an award that year for her portrayal of Erin Brokovich.

The black Giorgio Armani gown she wore to the 2002 Oscars was anything but basic, thanks to an up-to-there slit and two well-placed cutouts.

Another winning look at the Oscars, golden girl Julia flashed her signature smile in a satin Giorgio Armani gown in 2004.
