Oscar-winning music director AR Rahman says the late legendary Tamil film director K Balachander inspired generations of creative people.
Mr Balachander, 84, died at a private hospital here on Tuesday following prolonged illness and age-related ailments.
AR Rahman made his debut as music director in the film Roja, produced by Mr Balachander's home banner in 1992.
Mr Rahman wrote on Twitter

Mr Balachander was also instrumental in introducing talents like Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth to the film industry.
