Mohanlal teams up with ex-leading lady's daughter, again

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has been a part of the film industry for over three decades now

Highlights

  • Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has done it again -- he has teamed up with the daughter of an ex-leading lady. The veteran of more than 300 Malayalam films says it's part of his profession.
  • Mohanlal has paired up with Keerthi, daughter of Kerala's leading producer Suresh Kumar and actress Maneka, in his forthcoming Geetanjali.
  • Keerthi's mother Maneka featured as Mohanlal's leading leady in numerous films, including super hits like Boeing Boeing and Poocheke Oru Mukuthi.
  • This is not the first time he is working with the daughter of his ex-leading lady -- in his 2006 film Photographer, he shared screen space with Saranya Bhagyaraj, daughter of Poornima Jayaram, who was his heroine in his first release Manjil Virinja Pookal (1980).
  • But for Mohanlal such things are of little significance.
  • "See, I am currently doing a Tamil film where I worked with Poornima Jayaram after a long time. This is a profession and many will come and go, and I am just one of the actors. The story demands that a lady has to be there and in this film it's Keerthi," said the superstar.
  • When asked about Keerthi, Mohanlala, known to be a shy, smiled and said: "Yes, she is good." He was waiting to get a call from Priyadarshan for his next shot.
  • However, Priyadarshan who is directing Gitanjali, calls it a feat.
  • "Oh man, this is something that none will ever get to do. This is something phenomenal that he is doing for the second time," said Priyadarshan.
  • In the film, Mohanlal plays psychiatrist Sunny Joseph and he is called to treat Keerthi after she starts hallucinating, ahead of her marriage.
  • "The film is a lot different from earlier films of Priyadarshan. As the shooting is progressing, all of us are excited. After all, for an actor, every role is a challenge and I like challenges, hence it's all the more exciting," said Mohanlal, who will complete 35 years on September 3 as an actor in filmdom.
