Movie review: Nayak

A still from the movie

Highlights

  • Director: V V Vinayak
  • Cast: Ram Charan Teja, Kajal Agarwal, Amala Paul, Brahmanandam, Jayaprakash Reddy, Rahul Dev, Raghubabu, MS Narayana, Ashish Vidyarthi
  • The story of Ram Charan Teja's much anticipated movie Nayak is an old wine in new bottle, yet the mix of V V Vinayak's good direction and Ram Charan Teja's star power makes it a complete mass entertainer.
  • The plot revolves around the protagonist Cherry (Ram Charan) who in order to save his uncle Jilebi (Brahmanandam) falls into trouble with local don Gandipeta Babji (Rahul Dev). He accidently meets Gandipeta's sister (Kajal Aggarwal) and falls in love. In the meantime, Cherry gets involved in a murder and the CBI goes after the actor. Therefore the rest of the story revolves around this cat and mouse game with a surprising twist in the second half.
  • Ram Charan Teja has matured as an actor and there is considerable improvement in his body language, histrionics and dialogue modulation. The actor already has established himself as a good dancer and this movie is no different. Especially in the songs Laila O Laila and Hey Nayak, his moves are matchless.
  • Out of the two female leads, Kajal Aggarwal has a little scope of acting and she delivers her role well. Though her character played a key role, Amala Pal majorly adds to the glamour quotient of the film.
  • MS Narayana and Posani Krishna Murali 's comic timing is commendable.
  • Director V V Vinayak takes almost all the cinematic liberties in choreographing the action scenes and presents them on screen elaborately. Chota K Naidu's brilliant photography and Gautham Raju's taut editting keeps the audience glued to the movie.
  • Overall, Nayak is a good entertainer and will appeal to the mass audience.
