Emmy Awards 2015: Jeffrey Tambor Dedicates Win to Transgenders

Los Angeles: Jeffrey Tambor thanked the transgender community for inspiring his performance in Transparent that earned him the Best Actor in a Comedy Series honour at the 2015 Emmy Awards.

The story of the comedy drama series revolves around a Los Angeles family and their lives following the discovery that the person they knew as their father Maura Pfefferman (Jeffery Tambor) is transgender. (Also Read: Emmy Awards 2015: A Night of Firsts For Viola Davis, Jon Hamm and HBO)

Dedicating his win to the community, Mr Tambor, 71, said onstage, "Thank you for your patience, thank you for your courage, thank you for your stories, thank you for your inspiration, thank you for letting us be part of the change. God bless you." (Also Read: List of Winners)

The actor also won a Golden Globe earlier this year for his work on the hit Amazon show, hence his Emmy win did not come as a surprise.

He defeated Anthony Anderson from Black-ish, Louis CK from Louie, Don Cheadle of House of Lies, Will Forte from Last Man on Earth, Episode's Matt LeBlanc and William H Macy of Shameless in the category. (Also Read - Emmy Awards 2015: Viola Davis Delivers Emotional, Stirring Speech)

The 67th Primetime Emmy Awards took place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on September 20.
