Mumbai:
Comedian Krushna Abhishek admits that there is rivalry between Kapil Sharma and him but said that there should be healthy competition.
"There is no respect left as a cold war was going on between us (Krushna and Kapil Sharma) since
Comedy Circus. We are not friends. There is rivalry (between us)," Krushna told PTI.
Kapil, 34, became popular with his show
Comedy Nights with Kapil. Due to reported differences between Kapil and the channel on which the show was aired, the two decided to part ways.
"I did not want him (Kapil) to leave the show (
Comedy Nights with Kapil). It would have been a healthy fight between us with
Comedy Nights with Kapil and
Comedy Nights Bachao," Krushna said.
Now that Kapil is coming up with his new comedy show on another channel, Krushna is up for competition.
"Now there will be healthy competition between us as he has a new show on a different channel," added Krushna.
It was Krushna who stepped in Kapil's shoes as a host and
Comedy Nights with Kapil was changed to
Comedy Nights Live.
"It was a popular show (
Comedy Nights with Kapil). It was not easy for viewers to digest another person on the show. We got mixed reactions initially but now the TRP is good. People (stars) are calling us and saying that they want to come on the show," he added.
"We were not disheartened with the response. We knew it would take time for people to accept us. We have had the Deol family, Madhuri Dixit-Nene and others coming on the show. They are big stars," he said.
Apart from
Comedy Nights Live, Krushna will be hosting I>OMG! Yeh Mera India.
