Pratyusha Banerjee's Fiance in Hospital, to be Questioned by Cops Again

New Delhi: Actress Pratyusha Banerjee's fiance Rahul Raj Singh will be questioned again by police after he is discharged from hospital, news agency PTI reports. Pratyusha, best known for her lead role on TV show Balika Vadhu, was found dead in her Mumbai home last week. She was 24. Police are investigating her death as a suicide and have already questioned Mr Singh.

Rahul Raj Singh, who runs a production company, was taken to Shree Sai Hospital in Kandivali on Sunday after complaining of chest pain and low blood pressure. He has now been moved from the ICU to a general ward. "Though Rahul has been shifted to general ward, his condition is still not proper as he is in trauma," said Mr Singh's lawyer Neeraj Gupta.

Police will also be speaking to friends of the couple. A group of 10 colleagues of Pratyusha have offered to reveal details which might help the police's investigation, Mumbai lawyer Falguni Brahmbhatt told news agency IANS. "I have submitted a list of 10 people to the Bangur Nagar Police Station today (Monday) and they are likely to be called for giving their versions tomorrow (Tuesday)," Ms Brahmabhatt said. The identities of this list of 10 people have not been disclosed.

On Monday, Pratyusha's friends Kamya Panjabi and Vikas Gupta held a press conference in Mumbai, in which they described the actress' relationship with Mr Singh as 'messy.' They also alleged that Pratyusha believed her fiancé was cheating on her and that he had slapped her in public. According to reports in mid-day, Pratyusha's mother Shoma Banerjee claimed that relations between her daughter and Mr Singh were often rocky. In a counter claim, Mr Singh's father, Harshwardhan Singh, alleged that Pratyusha had money trouble because of her parents. "She never had any personal account; she only had a joint account. Her money was being handled by her parents. Sometimes I used to send money to Pratyusha - around Rs 5,000 -10,000. She was earning well, so I don't understand why she was bankrupt," Harshwardhan Singh told mid-day.

Rahul Raj Singh, who was questioned by cops on Saturday, told mid-day that he is innocent and that he would have married Pratyusha.

Pratyusha Banerjee hanged herself in her Goregaon apartment on April 1 and was taken to Kokilaben Ambani Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. A preliminary autopsy report indicated that she had died of asphyxiation.

Pratyusha played Anandi on Balika Vadhu from 2010 to 2013. She also appeared on reality shows like Bigg Boss and serials like Sasural Simar Ka.
