"Once I have been accepted by the Bengali audience in one film I know I have broken the jinx," says Jisshu Sengupta
"Abir, who was accepted by the audience in the role of the famous fictional detective in Badshahi Angti, will be in the same role. He will be my sleuth from now on. Abir fits the bill as a star with his young age, athletic build, height and intelligent face - all essential prerequisites which my father had visualised"
Abir Chatterjee played the titular role in Anjan Dutt's previous films on Bengal's favourite sleuth. "I told Jisshu that I did not want another Abir Chatterjee as Byomkesh. Instead of the intellectual appearance and Bengaliness, I wanted a sharper Byomkesh who is more desperate and a bit restless," said Anjan Dutt
"Abir fits the bill as a star with his young age, athletic build, height and intelligent face - all essential prerequisites which my father had specified," he said.
