Akshay Airlift Role

"My father was in the Army. So, perhaps due to that I feel like doing such films. I'm fond of the genre. When such stories come in front of you, you feel good about them. But I don't want to stress on them. I don't want to enforce this fact that extreme patriotism is suddenly rising in me," said Akshay Kumar

"I am very glad that I am the first actor to do a Tamil film. I am very happy. And I am grateful to them for putting me there. Which other male actor has gone there? You don't get it (the roles). Down south, they take our heroines. But, I am happy that I am doing it. I would love to break this myth," said Akshay

"My role in Airlift hasn't been modified. My character, his wife and children basically had the chance to escape, but he had numerous workers under him. He decided that first he'll relocate them to a safer place since they had come to work under his responsibility," said Akshay

In Airlift, Akshay plays the role of an influential businessman in 1990, when Iraq invaded Kuwait and more than one lakh Indians were evacuated from a Kuwait under attack. "This is a real story. India did a big thing of bringing back close to 1,70,000 Indians and it is there in the Guinness Book of World Record"

"There are so many Indians who have good roles in American TV shows like Kunal Nayyar, Archie Punjabi and even Irrfan Khan. I think Irrfan is a pioneer in that sense. This is nothing new. It has been happening for a while. It is just that more attention is given to it now," said Nimrat

Akshay will be seen next in Prabhu Deva's film Singh Is Bliing and Raja Krishna Menon's Airlift, which also stars Nimrat Kaur. Neeraj is currently working on MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, which features Sushant Singh Rajput in the titular role
