During the first episode of Koffee With Karan 5.0 when show host Karan Johar asked the actress if her Udta Punjab act was 'the performance of the year' and if she felt her performance was better than Sonam Kapoor's in Neerja, Alia said: "Honestly, I think that Sonam was very good in Neerja

"It's true that things are happening fast in my career but I am not scared of it right now. It's great. I feel very grateful and privileged to be able to work with so many great directors and actors," said Alia Bhatt

Alia, who impressed her fans by singing Samjhawan for her 2014 film Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, said that she had fun shooting for the new song with her Udta Punjab co-star

Abhishek Chaubey's Udta Punjab stars Shahid as a drug addicted rockstar and Alia as a Bihari migrant. The movie deals with the issue of drug abuse in Punjab and features Kareena Kapoor as a doctor and Diljit Dosanjh as a cop

Excerpt "The reason I did Udta Punjab is because there is no small or big role. And even if my role is a special one in the film, if we actors don't do these kinds of films, the message (about drug menace) will never be out," Kareena said.

"It was fabulous working with Abhishek Chaubey. He has this rare quality of guiding you through the journey of the film and still gives you space to try your own," said Alia Bhatt

"Abhishek Chaubey is a good friend of mine. He asked me to help Alia prepare for her role of a Bihari girl. I taught her the language. As Alia has lived in an urban surrounding, it was a bit challenging for her to speak with a Bihari accent," said Pankaj Tripathi

"When we started shooting, I walked on to the sets and I was avoided by all. Nobody realised that it was me. Suddenly when I spoke to (Abhishek) Chaubey, everybody realised and took five steps back. They felt they had made a blunder," said Alia

"It was hectic. Also, it was a physically demanding film. I had to push myself despite the injuries I had. I trained for hockey before starting the film. One would need to have a lot of years of practice to pull that off convincingly," said Alia

"For those who make assumptions based on what they have seen in the trailer, it is better for us to keep quiet and not say anything because whatever people are assuming, especially the person in question here, is assuming from the trailer, which could also possibly not be true," said Alia

Alia Bhatt Wednesday morning Twitter post could it be an oblique response to a recent open letter addressed to her about her role in Udta Punjab? Or could it simply be a platonic repost of a sentiment she agrees with?

"I think our director Abhishek Chaubey was sceptical about casting me in the film. I am happy that I am a part of it. This character is completely different from what I am in real life. I felt that there would be out of box things in the film and it has," said Alia
