Bajrang Dal activists stopped the screening of Shah Rukh Khan's film "Dilwale" at theatres here to protest against the Bollywood superstar's comments on intolerance. Theatre owners stopped the screening in view of security concerns after Bajrang Dal activists entered the theatres and staged protests yesterday, police said.

"People need a chance to express themselves and then they use public figures. People stand on the shoulders of public figures to say what they want to. It's a small thing, but then we have to sit and justify and explain that we are patriotic and nationalist," Shah Rukh Khan said

"I wish to make it clear that the MNS Chitrapat Sena's (MNSCS) decision to boycott the film (Dilwale) is not the official stand of the party," Raj Thackeray said in a statement on December 15. Amey Khopkar appealed to the masses not to patronize Dilwale, as SRK remained unmoved by the farmers' plight in Maharashtra

A day after the MNS-affiliated Chitrapat Karmachari Sena appealed to people not to watch Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Dilwale', party chief Raj Thackeray sought to distance himself from the controversy, saying boycotting the actor's film was not his party's official stand.

"Before the film's release it's better if you ask me questions about the film, because we have been so caught up with work, we don't understand other things. But God willing, everything good will happen with our film," SRK said

The MNS-affiliated Chitrapat Karmachari Sena on Monday appealed to people to boycott Shah Rukh Khan-starrer "Dilwale", releasing this week, alleging that the actor "ignored the plight of farmers reeling under severe drought".
