Kalki Koechlin's next film A Death In The Gunj releases on Friday
Shonali Bose is the director of two acclaimed films - her 2005 feature Amu starred actress Konkona Sen Sharma and her second film, Margarita, With A Straw, released in 2014 and starred Kalki Koechlin
Kalki Koechlin released her new short film, Naked, on social media. The film focuses on invasion of privacy on social media
"I am not getting any commercial films. I don't know why. I am a victim of my own image," Kalki said
"I don't do many TV shows because I'd rather be doing films or theatre. I am an actor. I would rather be acting than playing myself on TV. So I don't do TV shows, so this was the time I did since we (she and her father) did this again after many years," said Kalki Koechlin
The trailer of A Death In The Gunj promises that the film itself will be a revelation, an unflinching examination of interpersonal dynamics and the emotions that come with it
The film is a coming-of-age story, which traces the journey of five individuals who are on a holiday. It has an ensemble cast including Kalki Koechlin and Konkona's estranged husband Ranvir Shorey
"For me, it is a great way of interacting with fans and keeping in touch with the work which I do which is not just my film work but also theatre and writing. So I enjoy social media for that," Kalki said
"I was lucky I lived my life before entering Bollywood. I was also told to change this, change that, but I believed it is not going to affect me much in terms of my work. I feel my work is going to change who I am," said Kalki
"She is very precise and I think because she has been around her mother (Aparna Sen) and she has been doing films all her life, she knows her visuals, her frame, her edits and so, she is a very precise as a director," she added
Kalki Koechlin, who made her debut in Bollywood with Dev D in 2009, is known for her roles in critically acclaimed films like Shaitan, That Girl in Yellow Boots, Shanghai and Margarita, With a Straw
Apart from describing Naseer as 'passionate' and Ranbir Kapoor (her co-star in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani) as an 'adorable cheeky monkey,' she also had a delightfully pithy take on feminism
