Pancham Da, an innovator, is celebrated for infusing Bollywood's soundtracks with disco beats and jazz, introducing a new sound to a genre of music that had till then drawn inspiration from classical and folk music.
R D Burman, fondly known as Pancham da, scored the music for more than 30 Big B films, including Sholay, Satte Pe Satta, Deewaar, Namak Haraam and Sanjog, many of which featured Big B as The Angry Young Man. Pancham da died in 1994.
