The Madras High Court has stayed payment of a Rs 1 lakh fine on actor Vijay for seeking exemption from trying to avoid paying entry tax on the import of a high-end car - a Rolls Royce Ghost - in 2012.

Tamil movie star Vijay had recently imported a Rolls Royce Ghost from the UK and filed a petition looking to avoid paying entry tax on it. The judge, however, pulled him up saying he ought to pay up according to the law and fined him Rs 1 lakh.
