When asked about the remake of Ram Lakhan and its casting, Rohit Shetty said: "We are not doing it. Me and Karan are doing something else. Very soon, we'll tell you what we are doing"
Subhash Ghai's Ram Lakhan, which released in 1989, became a blockbuster. Rohit is reportedly planning to cast Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh as Ram (played by Jackie Shroff in original) and Lakhan respectively
"I am hearing about this (Ram Lakhan remake) since three and a half years. I think they are still making it. I think right now Ranveer is a good choice for Lakhan," said Anil Kapoor
While Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh were front-runners for Lakhan's role, Ranbir Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan and Sidharth Malhotra were being considered for Ram's part. Now a well-placed source in the production team of the film informs us that the makers have locked Shahid and Ranveer

And there is no project we are working on together right now," said Rohit Shetty, who is all set to start working on the script of Ram Lakhan remake in January 2016. Ram Lakhan will be the second of Subhash Ghai's films to be remade after the just-released Hero, starring newcomers Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty.
