Rituparno Ghosh was born in Kolkata on August 31, 1963. His father was a documentary filmmaker and Rituparno grew up in a world of movies. He went to Kolkata's South Point School and then studied economics at Jadavpur University.
Bengali director Rituparno Ghosh's body was taken to Nandan, Kolkata's state-run movie theatre, for mourners to pay their last respects. Mr Ghosh died of a cardiac arrest at his Kolkata home at 7.30 am today. He was 49
