"When I first cast Madhavan in a film, which I had written, his role was secondary to mine. We enjoyed working on the film. When everybody saw the film, they felt that the two roles were equal. That's why I like Madhavan, and that's why he could've mistaken me for his mentor," said Kamal Haasan

"The thought came from Sudha and Maddy (Madhavan) that we should cast a boxer, because the film has a lot of boxing matches. If a boxer plays the role, it will look real. I was the one who was averse to the idea, because we will get a boxer, but how will she act? She (Ritika) is very real," said Rajkumar Hirani
